About
Growing up in the Bay of Plenty, surrounded by amazing scenery and great people, is where Mitch's passion for nature and the outdoors began. All the women in her life are artists, and they taught her the way...
While attending boarding school in Hawkes Bay, Mitch bought her first camera, a Nikon FE. Since then, her passion for capturing moments through lens and brush has never stopped growing. Mitch studied at the Ilam School of Fine Art / University of Canterbury before falling in love with the Queenstown area during a five-month mountain bike trip around the South Island. She intended on staying 10 days and never left.
Life in Queenstown started with mountain biking, extreme skiing, cliff jumping, paragliding, and anything with an adrenalin rush. Many stunt opportunities came her way, including roof-riding range rovers, river-riding, and starring in a big air ski jumping commercial for a Korean ski field.
Photography has always been a big part of Mitch's life. Highlights so far for her have been: aviation photography, winning the 2006 Aviation Photographer of the Year Award with the National Press Club, and working for six years as a videographer and photographer for Pipeline Bungy in Skippers Canyon, during which I was once used as a test pilot for the 650 ft bungy from a balloon.
Throughout Mitch's journey, art with any medium has been forefront often favouring charcoal, pencil sketches, and oil paintings.
These days, Mitch is enjoying a more quiet life in Arrowtown, very focused on her art, including commissioned pieces, doing custom photography jobs, and her latest venture, selling prints online.
The adventure never stops.
